Animal fats are a valuable component of a dog's and cat's diet. Dogs with high energy needs — very active dogs, working dogs, detection dogs, or pregnant and lactating females — depend on an additional portion of fat in their BARF meals. However, even ordinary pets need to be adequately supplied with fat. Fat primarily provides energy and essential amino acids, ensuring your pet has the necessary energy for your shared adventures.

Balanced BARF nutrition: the right fat content is essential

Muscle meat is the main component of a balanced BARF meal. Care must be taken not to feed only lean meat. If the fat content is below the recommended 15% to 25%, it is advisable to add fat in the form of animal fat, such as this beef fat. Feeding recommendation

Healthy adult dogs: 80% animal components and 20% vegetable components. The animal portion is divided into 50% muscle meat, 20% rumen and omasum, 15% offal, and 15% raw meaty bones. The vegetable portion usually consists of 75% vegetables and 25% fruits.

Healthy adult cats: The animal portion of BARF rations should be 95%, of which approximately 65% muscle meat, heart, fat, and blood, as well as 15% raw meaty bones and offal. The remaining 5% consists of fiber-rich vegetables such as carrots or pumpkin.

Divide the total daily ration into at least two meals. Store at -18 °C in the freezer and thaw in the refrigerator for about 12 hours before use. Serve at room temperature.
